I/S provides the information technology required for all Publix business units including retail stores and all office and warehouse environments. The Publix I/S mission is to maximize the value of information technology to Publix associates and customers. Join Publix in a unique and varied role to support the successful delivery of IT value and effective project leadership for a large portfolio of systems including Distribution, Manufacturing, Finance and Enterprise Item Data. The most suitable hire for this position will be a candidate who works well with others and can demonstrate strong analytical, multi-tasking, planning and time management skills. The associate in this role will:

  • partner with project leaders to identify and support project planning; working throughout the effort to ensure budget, timeline, scope, and risk are being managed properly,
  • understand and facilitate adherence to both required and recommended processes that enable project delivery (e.g., project change request, financial management, resource planning),
  • manage and report accurate schedule, budget, risk, and accomplishment information for multiple initiatives,
  • execute processes that establish and manage vendor engagements on projects, including set-up, cost monitoring, status, invoicing, and closeout,
  • maintain task-level information necessary for resource planning,
  • leverage and develop the capabilities of Microsoft SharePoint sites for collaboration, and
  • foster and maintain cooperative relationships with IT groups, supporting offices, business area customers, and vendor partners.
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Science or other related discipline, or equivalent experience,
  • proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint,
  • knowledge of project management techniques, including defining project scope and deliverables, developing timelines, setting budgets, and managing risks,
  • knowledge of financial management and budgeting processes,
  • competency in determining priority and managing time and quality in the execution of multiple concurrent assignments,
  • strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with peers and managers,
  • obvious enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work, and
  • commitment to Publix and our mission.
  • Experience leveraging software to plan, monitor, and report projects, budgets, and schedules (e.g., Clarity/Open Workbench, Microsoft Project, Microsoft SharePoint, etc.),
  • experience supporting a large IT group within a matrix organization,
  • experience developing techniques to streamline the effort of evaluating portfolio performance,
  • experience with financial management across multiple portfolios including project budgets, temporary services, financial tracking, and year-end processes,
  • knowledge of problem management, change management, and other I/S processes, and
  • understanding of Waterfall and Agile development methodologies.
