Publixs Information Services (I/S) department is located in Lakeland, Florida and Alpharetta, Georgia and employs over 1000 associates. I/S provides the information technology required for all Publix business units including retail stores and all office and warehouse environments. The Publix I/S mission is to maximize the value of information technology to Publix associates and customers. The Retail Item Systems Team is seeking an experienced developer who will be responsible for playing a key role interacting with enterprise teams to define and develop solutions for retail applications using various methods, tools, and utilities. Further duties will include: Analyzing and translating of business requirements into technology solutions that consider system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, and scalability Designing enterprise class solutions using object-oriented analysis and design, design patterns, UML, service-oriented architecture, and solution frameworks Performing data analysis by creating and executing complex queries, interpreting results, and communicating findings to technical and non-technical audiences The most suitable hire for this position will be a technical candidate with strong analytical, planning, problem solving, writing and presentation skills and one who has the ability to communicate effectively with management, peers, technology vendors and business unit customers.

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or other analytical discipline or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications
  • Minimum of two years programming experience leveraging .Net framework 3.5/4.5/5.0 ASP.NET, NET Core, C#, JAVA, or HTML/CSS, object-oriented design, data structures, and analysis of algorithms
  • Minimum of two years experience with SQL Server
  • Understanding of Software Development Lifecycles (SDLC)
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be able to work with minimal supervision within a large corporate environment
  • Deep understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Three years or more experience supporting and developing enterprise applications running a multi-platform distributed environment
  • Experience with Entity Framework or other ORM tools (Dapper, NHibernate, etc.), Kafka or other open source messaging platforms, Unit testing frameworks (NUnit, XUnit, MSTest, etc.) Test Driven Development (TDD), NuGet package management, Git code management (DevOps or otherwise) and programming in C/C, C#, JAVA, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, MVC, Web APIs, Mobile Development using Xamarin Forms, Azure DevOps Solutions and Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience with responsive web application design and development
  • Strong technical understanding of data modeling concepts
  • Experience with AppCenter DevOps Integration, DevOps Pipelines, or other CI/CD tools, Telerik UI control set
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure related systems client/server, workstations, servers, networks, database, and middleware technologies
  • Ability to work concurrently on multiple assignments with similar deadlines
