Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer / Sr. Principal Cyber Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within the Weapon Systems Cybersecurity (WSC) Community of Practice (CoP) team. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

In this role, you will performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. This role ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Finally, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with modeling standardized Weapon Systems Cybersecurity (WSC) tasking in the Nimbus tool, including the production of standard System Security Engineering (SSE) tasks and related documents such as work instructions, desk instructions, plan templates, process guides, and commentary
  • Assist with the application of standardized WSC tasking on specific programs through specific program support actions
  • Assist with standardization adoption through regular interaction with programs at all Aeronautics Systems (AS) Centers of Excellence (COEs)
  • Performing assessments of program capabilities and identifying the current program execution capabilities in the Department of Defense (DoD) Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Assist in establishing strict program control processes to ensure mitigation of risks and supports obtaining certification and accreditation of systems. Includes support of process, analysis, coordination, security certification test, security documentation, as well as investigations, software research, hardware introduction and release, and periodic audits
  • Provide hands-on instruction in standardized WSC tasking through the development and delivery of Cybersecurity Workshops
  • Assist in information dissemination through publishing articles related to areas of expertise

Basic Qualifications (Principal Level):
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline AND 5 years of experience OR Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline AND 3 years of experience OR PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline AND 0 years of experience
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
  • Must have experience/familiarity with task modeling in the Nimbus tool
  • Must have experience identifying, evaluating, and implementing RMF controls
  • Must have experience with systems administration of Windows and Linux operating systems, including security hardening
  • Must have DoDI 8570 certification (GSEC, Security+, SCNP, SSCP) or higher

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
  • Must have experience/familiarity with task modeling in the Nimbus tool
  • Must have experience identifying, evaluating, and implementing RMF controls

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A working knowledge of Information Assurance (IA) technology, NIST standards, DoDI 8500.2 and SP 800-53
  • Experience implementing IAVMs and STIGs
  • Experience with JIRA tools
  • Familiarity in the Cybersecurity Lifecycle to include: generating IA requirements, creating IA architecture design, configuring IA audit tools, conducting IA verification and performing IA compliance

Salary Range: $96,400 USD - $144,600 USD

Salary Range 2: $119,400 USD - $179,200 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
