Description Legal Assistants directly support lawyers and occasionally oversee other legal staff, such as file clerks or legal secretaries.The ideal Legal Assistant will have sound technical and computer knowledge as well as excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills.Three to five years of legal experience in a law firm or other corporate legal department may be preferred.How you will make an impactMaking sure copied documents adhere to original standards
Be responsible for word processing, filing and faxing
Manage documents for photocopying/scanning
Categorize e-documents and files
Administer computer database input and retrieval
Assemble correspondence and memorandum
Be responsible for matter management and record keeping
Analyze and retrieve electronic documents from a variety of court and agency web sites
File documents and assemble data as directed by lawyers and paralegals
Perform legal research and investigative tasks, including obtaining information or documents from outside parties, as directed Requirements
Conducting routine discovery
Expertise in litigation
Strong familiarity with e-file
Drafting legal court documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits and subpoenas; transactional documents, such as trusts, wills, contracts and real estate leases; and closing documents
Investigating the factual evidence of a transaction or case and preparing exhibits, charts and diagrams to display information
Experience assisting lawyers in preparing for transactional closings, depositions, hearings, trials and conferences; completing many administrative tasks, including, working on individual cases or transactions
Organizing and tracking files for important transactions or case documents, including pleadings and voluminous discovery documents; creating and maintaining a case-management database
2+ years of previous legal work experience and a dedication to integrity
