Modis is currently accepting applications for a Cloud Migration Specialist to support our remote operations residing in East or Central time zones. The Cloud Migration Specialist will be responsible for the following:
Analyze databases for the purpose of cloud migration and make recommendations to optimize performance after migration. Use Google Cloud technologies, components, and supporting services throughout the cloud migration journey As a key member of the team, ensure success in designing, building, and migrating applications, software, and services to the cloud. Participate in architectural discussions and design exercises to migrate systems onto Google Cloud (or to other public clouds as warranted). Identity workarounds for specific issues and edge cases observed during migration. Use and be familiar with Infrastructure as Code. Develop test plans and test cases to demonstrate application/database readiness post migration. Work closely with application teams to ensure business functionality and SLAs are met. Partner with the sales team to design solutions for customers that drive cloud adoption and revenue Advise customers as to best practices related to cloud migration, cloud native architecture, and Site Reliability. Conduct technical sessions for internal teams, partners, and customers Contribute to internal knowledge bases and documentation The Cloud Migration Specialist must have experience with the following: 2+ years' experience in a lead role for at least two recent cloud migration initiatives, having at 75+ VMs or containers being migrated. 3+ years recent experience on any Cloud Platform (AWS, Azure, Google etc). Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations. Strong programming skills in Java and/or Python. Strong hands-on experience in integrating multiple databases like Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL etc. Customer facing skills to drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management, and risk mitigation Leading/Involved in highly-available and fault-tolerant enterprise and web-scale software applications. Experience in performance optimization techniques. Proven experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies required Implementing experience with primary cloud services (compute, networking, database, serverless, routing). Currently certified on either Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure (or more than one) Infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g. shell, Python, Ruby, PowerShell, Perl, Groovy) Configuration management using Ansible, Chef, and/or Puppet Experience in database programming like PL/SQL etc. Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges Integration of cloud services with on-premise technologies from Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, SAP etc. Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements (eg. security, privacy, SOX, HIPAA etc.) Experience migrating VMWare workloads into a cloud provider The Cloud Migration Specialist must meet the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Science / Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
