An educational institution in Orlando, FL is seeking a Business Analyst for a 12 month contract.

Please note that this position will require onsite work. Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Education, or
  • other related field
  • Five (5) to Eight (8) years of relevant technical or business work experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent use of verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written presentation and documentation skills
  • Ability to think ahead, see "the big picture" and improvise
  • Excellent organizational skills paying close attention to detail
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated success managing, working with people in establishing goals, objectives, and action plans to produce expected results

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs
  • Analyzes business partner's operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions
  • Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology
  • Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications
  • Educates the IT organization on the direction of the business
  • Negotiates agreements and commitments by facilitating communication between business unit(s) and IT from initial requirements to final implementation
  • Possesses an understanding of technological trends and uses this knowledge to bring solutions to business units supported to enhance the enterprise's competitive edge
  • May make recommendations for buy vs. build decision.
  • Working with Business Process Owners to understand, assess, and document functional requirements for needed reports and the data required for those reports.
  • Additional responsibilities include working with report developers and data modelers in communicating these needs for their work.
  • The ideal candidate will have proficiency with process flow diagramming techniques, meeting facilitation, and requirements documentation along with a background working in education.
  • Document functional requirements for data and reporting needs in relation to the implementation of a new reporting tool
