The Database Architect – has both strategic and tactical responsibility for analyzing, designing, developing and maintaining the complete spectrum of data assets and data processes. This includes the Logical and Physical Data Models as well as overall process flow and architecture for the Information Management environment. This responsibility includes the identification of data most valuable to the corporation, the integration of this data, and the development of correlating data and process models. In addition, the Data Architect is responsible for recommending the optimal system-of-record for enterprise wide consumption.

Position Summary:

  • Lead and collaborate on the creation of Data Development Processes, Procedures, and Standards to ensure data management consistency across the Enterprise
  • Design and document the technical logical and functional architecture and business usage of the data lifecycle, including design an requirements specifications
  • Identify re-engineering opportunities through research and analysis of business and system processes inefficiencies to ensure HGV maintains a competitive advantage with information technology
  • Maintain and develop the data stores and other information management system data models and the subsequent physical data model(s)
  • Work with Database Administrators and Engineers to manage the physical data base implementation
  • Ensure optimization of data architecture technical solutions
  • Work closely with Business Stakeholders, Data Governance team and Senior Management to understand and document business needs for the entire Information Management Framework
  • Monitors industry trends and identifies best practices in database architecture, ETL processes and data technologies

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years experience within an information management job capacity
  • 4+ years experience related to database architecture
  • Experience administering or architecting on 2 or more database platforms
  • Familiarity with data modeling principals for transactional and analytical workloads
  • Familiarity with data integration tools and patterns such as Extract Transform Load tools, event messaging and web interfaces
  • Familiarity with data privacy and protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, SOX, PCI, etc.…)
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study.
  • Experience working with IT service providers in an outsourced resource model.
  • Prior experience in a formalized enterprise IT organization with demonstrated expertise in data and information system management skills:
  • Data Warehousing and Data Lake design
  • Master Data Management (MDM)
  • Extract Transform Load (ETL/ELT) patterns
  • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • Service Level Agreements
