Job Description

SUMMARY

Provide pest control on turf and ornamentals in all areas maintained by Westgate. Will also assist in other areas of grounds maintenance when spraying is not been done. Mix or apply pesticides, fungicides, or insecticides through sprays, dusts, vapors, soil incorporation or chemical application on trees, shrubs, lawns, or botanical crops.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Maintain good healthy turf and ornamentals by spraying unwanted pests.
  • Spray turf and ornamentals with herbicides, insecticides and fungicides using several different methods including but not limited to, boom spraying, flood jet, wand and drench spraying.
  • Fill sprayer tanks with water and chemicals, according to formula.
  • Mix pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides for application to trees, shrubs, lawns, or botanical crops.
  • Cover areas to specified depths with pesticides, applying knowledge of weather conditions, droplet sizes, elevation-to-distance ratios, and obstructions.
  • Lift, push, and swing nozzles, hoses, and tubes in order to direct spray over designated areas.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One to two-year related experience and/or training. Commercial pesticide license required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Must be able to regularly lift, pull, push and or/move up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to bend, stoop, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs, for up to eight (8) hour.

Must be capable of hearing within what is considered to be a normal range. In addition, the employee is occasionally required to smell. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include capable of distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and perception, close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
