Job Description

This role primarily works out of the Orlando Disney Central location. Frequent travel between Central Florida area locations is expected. This is a Software Engineering Internship that will focus on creating custom web-based applications to provide efficiencies in the contact centers. The position will utilize numerous object-oriented programming languages such as C#, Java, JavaScript (Node, Typescript), and Groovy. Position will also work with administering and building databases for custom applications using Postgres, Informix, Microsoft SQL, or others. This internship will become familiar with integrating to vendor telephony solutions and other SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) products across the Walt Disney Company, such as integrating with incident management platforms and Single Sign On (SSO) solutions to provide secure, user-friendly applications that will be utilized by many business segments. The internship will utilize scripting languages to create and maintain scheduled tasks and reporting jobs. Intern will become versed in security and design best-practices for building enterprise-grade solutions. This position will work with task management platforms such as Jira, Zendesk, and ServiceNow to follow timelines for releases. The internship will also utilize Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery platforms such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions in partnership with version control software such as Git/GitHub/GitLab for deployment of developed software.

Responsibilities
  • Write and maintain custom web and service based applications using modern object-oriented programming languages (e.g. C#, Java, JavaScript, Groovy) that integrate with various SaaS and Telephony solutions to provide efficient, secure, and user-friendly experiences to internal Disney teams.
  • Administer, build, and maintain databases and server infrastructure for custom/vendor applications
  • Maintain well-documented code and version control using Git/GitHub/GitLab for collaboration on projects with other Cast Members to ensure products can be supported and continued by others
  • Write Continuous Delivery workflows using Jenkins and GitHub Actions for deployment of applications
  • Write Bash and Batch scripts for scheduled tasks and reporting jobs
  • Brainstorm ideas from inception to delivery for new projects, and demonstrate benefits to cost or user experience to key stakeholders
  • Utilize task management platforms to track project/incident progress and communicate to leaders on due dates.
Basic Qualifications

  • Must have intermediate/advanced experience in one of more object-oriented programming languages (e.g. C#, Java) and be willing to learn programming languages not currently in the candidates experience at a fast pace.
  • Intermediate/Advanced experience building web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript/NodeJS
  • Demonstrated experience working with SQL platforms such as Informix, Postgres, or Microsoft SQL.
  • Familiarity with one or more Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) such as Visual Studio, JetBrains, or Eclipse
  • Proficiency working within a Windows environment with applications such as Outlook, Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Task Scheduler, Command Prompt
  • Experience utilizing Version Control and CI/CD platforms such as Git, GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub Actions
  • Experience documenting code through comments, and end-user documentation
  • Familiarity with Data Structures
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit initiative and professionalism
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to partner with internal customers and external vendors
  • Proven ability to work in a high paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient knowledge in OAuth authentication flows such as OpenID Connect (OIDC) and Session Assertion Markup Language (SAML)
  • Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence for project management and documentation
  • Experience working with Telecommunications technology such as Avaya Aura
  • Experience with IT Service Management solutions such as ServiceNow
Required Education

Must be pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field

  • At the time of application, must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
