I want to hire someone who will be a SUPERSTAR legal assistant on our team devoted to providing the best legal service possible to the Central Florida community. We are a Plaintiff personal injury law firm. We represent victims who suffered injuries as a result of someone else's negligence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your first responsibility (but far from your only) will be answering the phones. But, I don’t want just an average person answering phones. I am looking for an exceptional individual who will be excited every time the phone rings, because it represents a chance to help the person on the other line. I want the caller to “hear your smile” whenever you pick up the phone. AND, you need to be able to be sympathetic when people who are dealing with significant injuries call in. You will be the first point of contact when other attorneys, insurance adjusters, current clients, and others call in to the office. What else will you be doing?
Set up initial claims with insurance companies
Send out letters of representation (LORs), spoliation letters
Provide administrative support to lawyer and case manager
Handle communication with clients, witnesses etc.
Request medical records, bills for pre-suit cases
Assist case managers in getting files ready for demand
Prepare case briefs and summarize depositions, interrogatories and testimony
Conduct investigations and statistical/documentary research
Locate and develop case relevant information
Type up and file basic legal documents and correspondence
Answer and direct phone calls
Maintain contact lists
Monitor deadlines and juggle calendars
Here are the basic qualifications:
1. You must be bilingual (English and Spanish)
2. You are great with people (not just good). You can easily sympathize with them, and you are good at navigating tricky social situations tactfully.
3. You can keep your cool when someone else is freaking out.
4. You would enjoy answering the phone every time it rings. It’s never an “interruption” to you; it’s an “opportunity.”
5. You are Internet and technology literate, and you would feel comfortable learning new systems.
6. Since we are working from home right now, must have computer and a cell phone to communicate with clients. (we will provide you with a phone number for your privacy)
7 You can “check your baggage at the door.”
Basically, you’re capable of coming into work without bringing outside drama in with you.
Here are some “bonus” qualifications that are nice but not required:
1. Past experience in a law firm (especially a personal injury firm).
2. Previous experience as a legal assistant, especially if you have worked in a personal injury law firm before.
3. Experience using any kind of online database software.
When you submit your resume, please share with me why YOU think you would be a stellar team member and what in this ad made you think, “I’d like to work here!”
Thanks, and we look forwarding to reading your answers!
