Job Description
In this role, you will analyze and design structural aspects of gas turbine components. Working in a multi-disciplinary team, you will develop component designs which meet customer requirements for cost, performance, and durability. This requires a solid understanding of the basic principles of structural mechanics, a working knowledge of finite element theory, and decision making ability, while providing analytical support from preliminary design, through detailed design, development, certification, and manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/TASKS:- Conduct structural design and analysis of new and repaired turbine, compressor, and combustor components
- Provide structural design definition to Product Definition Group and prepare written technical reports, specifications, procedures, and manuals
- Make technical decisions on structural designs
- Evaluate the capability of turbine components for typical temperature-dependent damage modes: creep and fatigue, oxidation, etc.
- Provide support for engine and lab validation testing, production and in-service field investigations
- 3D CAD modeling (NX or ProE preferred)
Qualifications
- BS Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace)
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the aero or IGT engine aero-thermal discipline
