Job Description

In this role, you will analyze and design structural aspects of gas turbine components. Working in a multi-disciplinary team, you will develop component designs which meet customer requirements for cost, performance, and durability. This requires a solid understanding of the basic principles of structural mechanics, a working knowledge of finite element theory, and decision making ability, while providing analytical support from preliminary design, through detailed design, development, certification, and manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/TASKS:

  • Conduct structural design and analysis of new and repaired turbine, compressor, and combustor components
  • Provide structural design definition to Product Definition Group and prepare written technical reports, specifications, procedures, and manuals
  • Make technical decisions on structural designs
  • Evaluate the capability of turbine components for typical temperature-dependent damage modes: creep and fatigue, oxidation, etc.
  • Provide support for engine and lab validation testing, production and in-service field investigations
  • 3D CAD modeling (NX or ProE preferred)

Qualifications

  • BS Engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the aero or IGT engine aero-thermal discipline

This position requires US citizenship or permanent resident status since duties and tasks may include the review and/or analysis of information and technical data subject to certain restrictions regarding export, use, and disclosure including without limitation those included in the US Export Administration Regulations (15 CFR, Chapter VII, Subchapter C).
