Job Description

The Field Technician is responsible for ensuring that Hazardous Waste is prepared in accordance with all federal and local regulations for shipment to TSDF locations.The Field Technician will create paperwork associated with Hazardous Waste pick-ups on multiple military bases and assist the Contract Fulfillment Manager in accomplishing assigned tasks orders coming from DLA.Support in loading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste on to trucks utilizing pallet jacks and any associated equipment needed.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Responsible for maintaining all Clean Earth equipment and supplies under the direction of the Contract Fulfilment Manager.
  • Inspection of waste materials to include proper packaging and labeling.
  • Prepare load lists for Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste pick-ups.
  • Assist in preparing all shipping documentation and waste profiles.
  • Complete tasks orders and Clean Earth internal documents.
  • Operate fork trucks and other mobile equipment to move containers to and from storage and treatment areas and to load/unload waste shipments.
  • Assist with field service analytical activities.
  • Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s license
  • 1+ years of experience in the waste/recycling industry
  • Willing and able to travel up to 35% travel by car to customers within territory & possible overnight travel
  • Ability to understand and respond to written and verbal English
  • Work with various materials with varying safety requirements
  • Tasks will rotate within different areas of the warehouse according to business needs.
  • Must be willing and able to visit vendor sites, which may include indoor and outdoor environments, ambulating over uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, continuously standing for 8 hours/day, lift and carry 60 pounds throughout the work day, and the ability to move 55- gallon drums
  • Willingness and ability to wear company-issued personal protection equipment including safety glasses, hard had, steel toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to predictably and regularly attend work during scheduled hours. Must be willing and able to occasionally work nights, weekends and variable schedule(s) as necessary.
  • Basic computer skills to complete web-based training, communicate, create, and access information
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER Safety Training Certificate
  • Valid certification to operate forklifts
  • Knowledge of RCRA, DOT regulations, and OSHA
  • The ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently and to manage several tasks at once to meet deadlines
  • The ability to follow direction or instruction
