QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; and two (2) years of related experience.

The experience requirement must be in tire service (HD tire experience preferred) and may be satisfied by a combination of on-the-job experience and completion of technical or vocational training courses in the pertinent area, a total of which must equal two (2) years.

Licenses or Certifications:

Possession of an appropriate driver’s license for equipment operated and any license, training, or certification required by law or regulation to complete assigned tasks.

JOB SUMMARY

The Fleet Maintenance & Tire Service Technician involves a combination of general fleet operations maintenance and tire service (both heavy-duty and light-duty). Responsibilities include cleaning and organizing work areas, pressure washing, shop projects, parts runs, and various tire-related services.

An employee in this class performs a variety of skilled under the direction of the Assistant Fleet Supervisor. Assignments may be given verbally or in writing and are carried out independently following standard practices. Work is occasionally inspected for quality, but the employee is expected to maintain responsibility for the accuracy, safety, and efficiency of all completed work. Performance is evaluated based observed and attained results.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Clean, organize, and maintain safety equipment in the fleet facility and work areas adhering to safety procedures and a hazard-free work environment.

Pressure washing, sweeping, and other general cleaning tasks including vehicles and equipment

Conduct parts pick-up and delivery for repair and maintenance jobs

Assist mechanics and technicians with basic shop tasks, such as tool handling and vehicle staging.

Assist with fueling vehicles, recording fuel logs, and monitoring fuel inventory

Maintain records related to mounted tire programs, tire inventory, and retreads

Remove, break down ,mount and install heavy-duty truck tire, light-duty vehicle tires and equipment tires

Break down and reassemble tires from rims (both heavy-duty and light-duty)

Operate a tire service truck, Occasionally performs roadside tire services in accordance with safety regulations

Performs other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to hold or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, and crouch.

Specific vision abilities include near distance, far distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Job duties are completed both indoors and in the field.

The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 45 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some jobs may require an employee to be exposed to outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions.
