Job Description: Product Owner - Technology

SMCI has a new position we're recruiting for. It is a Certified Scrum Product Owner for our client in Pinellas Park, FL.

Client Facing Responsibilities

  • Meet with stakeholders regularly to determine priorities and the report status of open requests
  • Demonstrate the delivery of the business value and outcomes of the sprint delivery to the various stakeholders
  • Knowledge, insight, and understanding of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

    General Responsibilities
  • Serve as a liaison between the business users and the software development team to gather and communicate requirements which help define and verify product design
  • Implement the product road map by planning and prioritizing product feature backlog, and development, for the product
  • Partner with Product Management and other process owners to maintain a product backlog according to business need and value
  • Develop user stories and acceptance criteria to ensure the sprint team has an adequate amount of user stories for refinement
  • Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs
  • Prioritize the product backlog through client priority meetings, analysis and meetings with the development team
  • Contribute to daily scrum meetings with development team
  • Owner of all sprint deliverables providing the following:
    o Prioritization of work items within the sprint
    o Sprint review sign off for all sprint deliverables (meets definition of done)
    o Status updates as required
    o Timely support/input to development team for current sprint work items
  • Work proactively with the Scrum Master to mitigate impediments which may impact completion of sprint deliverables

    Minimum Requirements
  • Analysis and problem-solving skills with a natural curiosity and willingness to learn
  • Bachelors (BA or BS) in business, computer science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Presentation ready professionalism with internal and external clients
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize formal agile methodologies, disciplines, practices and techniques for the delivery of new and enhanced applications (CSPO or equivalent preferred)
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel); working knowledge of software development.

    Bonus Skills
  • Work experience as a Product Owner or similar role in product management
