Due to a recent reorganization, we have identified several critical roles that are needed to satisfy the needs of the next phase of growth within the organization.One of the critical areas is to support the needs of the business systems applications. The Technical Lead, Business Systems role is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing a team of systems analysts and developers supporting, troubleshooting, planning, developing, implementing, and improving the business systems applications. He/she works with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, business analysts, tech operations teams, and vendor support teams to understand ongoing issues or areas of improvement, and then determine solutions that meet company needs while considering ROI through cost, time, and scope. The ideal individual for this role will be an independent self-starter, someone who thrives in a fast-paced customer centric environment and has the interpersonal skills necessary to manage business and technology relationships. Primary Responsibilities- Manage team of systems analysts and developers who are responsible for support, maintenance, and new development of critical systems.
- Understand the companies business processes end to end and impacts on internal systems.
- Prioritize, manage, and support ongoing business systems issues and related projects.
- Identify, solution, and implement new features, functionality, or applications that drive efficiencies, better user experiences, or add value.
- Think critically to solve problems, make decisions, and build trust across the organization.
- Build and maintain a positive relationship between IT and business areas.
- Work with all levels in the organization including presenting and leading meetings.
- Possess excellent negotiation, influencing, collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ensure timely support of day-to-day business processing needs.
- Interact and coordinate with IT groups, business units, and external vendors to archive overarching company goals.
- Manage multiple work streams and meet expected deadlines.
- Engage in areas such as Security, Compliance (SOX), Reporting, Production and participate in change management.
- Communicate effectively (written and verbally) with both technical and non-technical parties.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise with respect to systems architecture, coding, and data analysis.
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent with a focus in Computer Science, MIS, Business
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.S.) - Computer Science or related program
- 3+ years' related experience in a leadership role
- Strong understanding of application systems, enterprise systems, and business intelligence methods.
- Ability to quickly learn new software solutions.
- Working knowledge of IT infrastructure.
- Strong oral presentation and written communication skills.
- Ability to write operational and application documentation.
- Must be able to work periodic evenings/weekends if required.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Query Analyzer, SQL profiler, T-SQL statements, extracts (SSIS), stored procedures, functions, and jobs.
- Background in higher education.
- Knowledge of Student Information Systems (SIS)
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Experience in higher education.
- Experience in business systems applications with considerable understanding of how to support such systems.
