Job Description: Title and Description:
The Cloud Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the companys cloud systems and infrastructure. The Cloud Engineer maintains and supports cloud-based systems in a 24x7 environment, provides cloud services management (scaling, backup, migration) maintaining scalable systems with 99% uptime, and ensures a high level of security, integrity and availability through planning and design of the Infrastructure on Cloud. This position is in the IT department and reports to the Director of IT.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company.
  • Plan, design and script cloud-based servers and applications.
  • Script the migration of on-prem Windows, VMware environment to the Azure cloud.
  • Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
  • Deploy and debug cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Train teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.
  • Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they snowball into problems.
  • Build and design web services in the cloud, along with implementing the set-up of geographically redundant services.
  • Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the organization innovate and excel.
  • Experience in configuring Kubernetes clusters in managed and unmanaged environments.
  • Experience in Data management (Azure storage) and Data delivery with Azure CDN.
  • Experience in migrating on-prem applications running on IAAS to PAAS and serverless wherever possible.
  • Experience in lifting and shifting applications to Azure using Azure Site recovery.
  • Experience in implementing PowerShell DSC for configuration management and Terraform for infrastructure automation.
  • Experience configuring CI/CD pipelines in the on-prem, Azure cloud (AWS, GCP) using Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in configuring dashboards in Azure for cost analysis/app insights workbooks and Azure DevOps for pipelines, work items, and bugs.
  • Experience in debugging network related issues using Wireshark/Fiddler/Solar Winds/Logic Monitor.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Three to five years experience in a Cloud Engineer role or related position.
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Engineering; Masters degree a plus.
  • Experience working with JavaScript, authoring Bash scripts, Docker Swarm and .Net deployments on Kubernetes including storage a plus.
  • Certification in Azure, Cloud Security, and/or OpenStack Administrator a plus. (Other cloud-related certification also a plus.)
  • Experience with SOA applications and cloud-based services, preferably Azure.
  • Knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2008/12/16/19, IIS 6,7,8,10
  • Experience with scripting languages
  • Experience with version control tools: Azure DevOps, Git, Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation: Terraform, Azure ARM Templates
  • Monitoring Tools: App Dynamics, Azure application insights, solar winds, Logic Monitor
  • Networking/Load Balancing/Firewalls: NetScaler, Palo Alto, Azure Front door

    Nice to Have:
  • Experience working in a Hybrid environment with cloud management (Azure)
  • Experience working with microservices
  • Experience in managing content management sites
  • Experience in customizing Azure DevOps work items, process templates, and workflow.
