Publixs Information Services (I/S) department is located in Lakeland, Florida and Alpharetta, Georgia and employs over 1000 associates. I/S provides the information technology required for all Publix business units including retail stores and all office and warehouse environments. The Publix I/S mission is to maximize the value of information technology to Publix associates and customers. The IS Engineer (Data Center Infrastructure) position will support the installation of the computing hardware and cabling systems for all Data Center hardware. The position requires strong knowledge and experience with Data Center class computing systems, as well as the electrical and mechanical systems utilized in the Data Center. The IS Engineer will be responsible for a variety of duties ranging from installation, integration, maintenance, and operation of Data Center systems:
- Analyze Data Center SAN, server, and network hardware installation requests and project documents to develop reliable implementation solutions
- Ensure all Data Center installations meet the overall project objective and follow the appropriate standards (i.e. correct life cycle, connection types, disaster recovery method)
- Maintain a highly developed understanding of changes to the Data Center environment
- Troubleshoot and resolve Data Center infrastructure issues
- Think strategically to anticipate potential issues based on current trends and Data Center infrastructure capacities
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or other analytical discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience installing PC hardware and other computer related devices
- Experience installing Category 6/6A copper cabling and OM3/OM4 multimode fiber cabling
- Understanding of HVAC or electrical principles
- Excellent human relation skills (ability to work well with others and be a team member),

- Experience installing network and security devices
- Experience with design and installation of structured cabling systems
