nullIn this role, you have the opportunity toJoin the Production Operations team to be hands on with our technology stack, especially in the area of database system management. This candidate should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment, and will gain experience in various aspects of Production Operations and engineering. The ProdOps Database Engineer will impact the organization by providing direct support with day-to-day database management and infrastructure responsibilities, and should be able to help accelerate the technologies used at Philips and provide valuable insight. We are looking for sharp, passionate, and hard working individuals who not only want to make an impact, but also grow their technical and leadership skills.You are responsible for

Lead management of Percona DBA services across multiple application solutions

Effectively manage services related to database systems in the Datacenter and in the cloud in a scalable and automated manner, including but not limited to: DB platform, DB operations, DB tasks, DB components, DB performance, DB up-time and stability, application platforms, application and interfacing operations, solution releases, and user management

Work with engineering/development teams on design and operational issues relating to DB architecture, operational deployment and DB system performance

Manage and provide insight into core product services to support company operations

Work as part of the core ProdOps team to be a key role in day to day operations and larger projects

Ensure maximum up time of all DB components in all environments

Be readily available to help or assist through any escalations, “spikes”, or issues

Develop tools to help Philips engineers & employees interact with various technologies

Troubleshoot and diagnose issues within various environments quickly

Scale and advance Philips by using new technologies to be a leader in the industry

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

Strong fundamental understanding of Database principles, properties, and operations

Ability to be readily available and operationally focused as needed

Solid experience and/or passion for working with technology and adapting new evolving strategies

Fundamental and strong understanding of servers, networking, and storage

Experience with large Linux system deployments, system administration, and automation tools (CentOS, RedHat, Fedora)

Experience with MySQL or other Relational Database environments

Experience with the Percona toolset, Zabbix, Nagios, Cacti, and Newrelic

Experience and ability to write, modify, and tune scripts written in JavaScript, Python, Bash, Perl

Experience and ability to setup automated monitoring & alerting systems

Experience with configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

Strong background in development processes, procedures, documentation and best practices

Active listening and critical thinking skills

Ability to assess and evaluate and identify critical issues quickly and accurately in highpressure situations

Ability to work in a fast paced 24x7 production environment

Ability to understand complex technologies and how they fit together.

Ability to communicate with multiple teams and vendors effectively

Ability to pay attention to detail, learn, and apply new skills

Ability to read and understand various programming languages

Preferred skills and experience:

Experience with Cloudera, HortonWorks, hive, spark, yarn, hdfs, kafka, storm, hdfs

Experience with Rabbit, jboss, queueing technology

Experience with AWS or GCE

Experience with Docker (Swarm, Console, Kubernetes)
