JOB ID:-13886208-70bcae82d3a0ac5e56b57e0a4323ebWe are looking for a Bioinformatician or Statistical Genetic Analyst to assist in analyses of large-scale datasets including, but not limited to, WGS, WES, Microarray, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq and Chip-seq, in relation to clinical phenotypes. Datasets are generated among childhood cancer survivors in the Department of Epidemiology and Cancer Control where our research is focused on describing late sequelae of childhood cancer and its treatment, and on identification of risk factors that can be modified to prevent these sequelae to promote well-being of survivors. The ideal candidate will have bioinformatic and statistical analyses of large genomic and epidemiological data and experience in population-based genetic studies such as GWAS and PheWAS. Proficiency in one of more programming languages such as R, Python, Perl, Java or C under Linux/Unix environment is required. Familiarity with statistical genetics/genomics software including PLINK, GCTA, EPACTS, GATK, DESEQ2, samtools etc. is preferred. Performs basic analysis of biomedical data produced from a variety of biotechnology platforms including microarrays, next generation sequencing systems, scientific imaging and tandem mass spectrometry for proteomics, under close supervision. Basic statistical analysis, algorithm implementation, bioinformatics programming. Evaluates data for quality assurance, and mines bioinformatics databases. Assists senior analysts and scientists to maintain biomedical databases or data warehouse. Works with Information Services, other departments, and vendors as needed to maintain biomedical databases or data warehouse. Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree or PHD is preferred Two (2) years of relevant experience is requiredNo experience may be acceptable with a Masters degree in Computer Science or Bioinformatics, with a background in the biological sciences Experience in programming (Python, Java, C/C, perl or other programming/scripting languages) under Linux/Unix environment is required. Experience of data analyses under supervision is required End user support and training experience is preferred Experience with open source software development is preferred. Experience in development of algorithms, statistical methods or scientific software is preferred.
