Job Description: The Trailer Product Manager is a critical and high visibility position managing the largest product line within the organization. The Trailer Product Manager oversees all aspects of the trailer product and support functions, both internal and external to the truck-trailer organization. Internal responsibilities for the Trailer Product Manager would include involvement and management of projects and processes relating to:

  • Developing and implementing both short- and long-term product and component strategy initiatives
  • Working with the program management team and marketing functions on new product introductions
  • Managing products through their life cycle, including obsolescence strategies
  • Interacting with cross functional groups (engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and sales) to ensure initiatives meet schedule, cost and quality targets
  • Analyzing and monitoring the regulatory environment and assuring product compliance
  • Benchmarking competitive equipment
As the "face and voice" of the product line, external responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with marketing resources to develop effective sales and promotional materials
  • Developing and executing effective customer focused messages and campaigns
  • Conducting customer visits and answer questions regarding the breadth of the trailer product line
  • Traveling to customer and dealer locations and assisting sales with high level presentations, or new product introductions
  • Developing and delivering presentation materials for large audiences
  • Providing interviews with trade media or representing the company on discussion panels at trade shows
  • Interacting closely with company's sales force, field service engineers, and dealer network to assist with applications and sales efforts
  • Responding in a timely and professional manner to various customer requests
  • Evaluating competitive equipment and develop effective sales communications tools on the comparative advantages of equipment
Position requires 10% to 15% travel

Education Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Business, Engineering, or similar technical study. MBA preferred Fluency in Spanish desirable

Experience: Minimum ten years experience in a technical environment or five years technical + two years in a front-line business position (sales, marketing, service, applications, etc.) Candidate must have a proven record of leadership, strategic thinking, and project management with a business mindset, including the ability to grasp complex situations and extract key points and motives and effectively communicate and quickly act on them. Candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to professionally represent the company in both writing and in oral communications (media relations, presentations, sales training, management presentations, etc.)
