We are a small but rapidly expanding used car dealership in midtown Atlanta. Currently we have 10 employees but we will soon increase our staff once we move to a new larger store later this year.

Because we are a small outfit at the moment we need potential candidates to serve as sales/finance manager as well. Eventually the general manger will hire all department heads when needed. Applicants fluent in both Spanish and English is preferred but not required.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The General Manager is responsible for the operations and profitability of all departments. The General Manager will oversee the staffing of the company, hiring and training new employee's; set sales quotas and goals, and assist in financing arrangements. The candidate should be well organized and demonstrate excellent customer service, PR, strong leadership and communication, negotiation, basic accounting and multi-tasking skills and advanced computer skills. Track record of proven performance is most important.

Job duties for a general manger include:

Hiring all management positions, completing performance evaluations, developing short and long-term goals for each department manager (includes administrative, sales, parts, collision and service departments).

Planning and developing short and long-term goals and objectives annually, and submitting time projections to corporate management for approval.

Effectively communicating with the comptroller/office manager on a weekly basis to review departmental forecasts and ensure consistency with annual projections.

Paying close attention to daily operations, recommending and creating improved courses of action where necessary.

Explaining the policies and procedures of the dealership to all employees and following up with employees to ensure that these issues are understood and followed.

Providing dealership management with weekly reports on the financial condition of the dealership.

Overseeing the monthly financial statement to ensure it is complete, accurate and submitted on time to the management/dealership owners.

Coordinating with the business/administrative office to ensure that records and analyses are correctly maintained.

Creating a good working relationship with lending institutions and manufacturer personnel and maintaining these relationships.

Coordinating regular meetings with the managers of each department to ensure their profitability and efficiency.

Overseeing the hiring and training of all department managers and/or all new staff.

Maintaining an enthusiastic attitude to build positive employee attitudes and morale.

Overseeing and maintaining compensation plans for all employees.

Creating cost-effective advertising programs and merchandising strategies for the dealership.

Focusing on any customer complaints that department managers are unable to rectify and taking the necessary steps to resolve these complaints.

Knowledge of manufacturer software systems and Reynolds, Frazeretc. Must be internet proficient

Additional GM and support staff job duties specific to sales/finance:

Sell financing and other finance and insurance products to customers.

Sell Extended Warranties and all other after market items

Establish and maintain good working relationships with several finance sources, factory and otherwise.

Submit paperwork to and obtain approval from finance sources on all finance deals.

Handle all rate quotations.

Check all paperwork for correct title, lien information, taxes, etc.

The F&I Manager has a responsibility to log in sales income . Verify insurance with customers agents, obtain deposits, verify trade payoffs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

General managers should have at least five years of dealership sales and/or F&I experience and three years in a supervisory position. Experience in other dealership departments is a plus. They must have strong leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to understand profit and loss statements and manage a large, diverse staff.

A 6 day work week is expected with flexibility for a more liberal schedule when workload dictates

General managers also must possess strong communication skills to deal with customers, employees and vendors.

Managers are required to stay abreast of the federal, state, and local regulations affecting their operations and comply with them, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know regulations. Also they must provide the necessary training on regulations and ethical practices.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma or the equivalent is required and a college degree in business administration is preferred.

Applicant must be willing to be flexible with hours and schedule. 6 day work week. Evenings, mornings and weekends will be necessary. Potential candidates should have their own reliable transportation and a valid drivers license. Criminal background check is mandatory.
