Requisition Number: 211900 Cox Communications is searching for a Data Architect, Engineering Data & Analytics to develop a comprehensive vision of data architecture to enable analytics and reporting within Engineering. The Data Architect will work closely with team members, stakeholders and boundary partners to develop a reliable, efficient and transparent data warehouse leveraging data across a variety of in-house applications and tools. The Data Architect will work closely with team members to map current and future state data models and will contribute to data governance efforts within Engineering. This role will contribute to specific department efforts while collaborating with all other efforts to build a uniform approach to implementing BI solutions, enhance data quality, master data and master list management while meeting business needs. Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  • Develops and proposes long term strategic goals and future state for data architecture within Engineering Data and Analytics team, capable of communicating value of data architecture to stakeholders
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining Engineering Data and Analytics data warehouse, leveraging data from across a variety of internal applications and tools
  • Delivers data sets, views and automated reporting to stakeholders on an as needed basis
  • Works closely with Data Analyst to develop current state data models, documenting and visualizing data flows across existing internal applications and tools
  • Works closely with application development teams to ensure knowledge of data flows, impact of changes to application or database sources of truth and data accuracy
  • Develops and deploys processes and procedures to establish and track data accuracy, completeness and consistency within data warehouse
  • Works closely with Data Analyst to document ETL processes used for data warehouse, data flows and data quality to ensure visibility and transparency for stakeholders and boundary partners
  • Collaborates with boundary partners and stakeholders as necessary and ensures transparency and stakeholder buy in for all deliverables

Qualifications: Minimum:
  • 8+ years of experience in a data architecture, database administration/ management, data science or data analytics role; experience in data governance a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in developing data architecture and creating and maintaining data sets, databases and data warehouses using SQL, leveraging data from a variety of structured sources for reporting purposes, experience with unstructured data sources a plus
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of databases and various platforms and products, with the ability to provide a trusted voice at the decision-making table
  • Strong programming skills and ability to utilize a variety of data/ETL tools/ software/languages/platforms; MS SQL Server, VBA, Excel, Tableau, Oracle, Informatica, Python, R, PEGA, Hadoop, AWS Redshift, etc.
  • Strong communication skills. The ability to comprehend and communicate technical findings as they relate to business insights and resulting implications to both technical and non-technical business partners. Ability to work in a diverse team
Preferred:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems or closely related field
