Requisition Number: 202104065 The Data Engineer II - Advertising and Operations role is responsible for creating and maintaining high quality business critical datasets, enabling Analytics teams and other peer teams within the Cox Retail Consumer Solutions to perform and scale their work. This position reports to Director, Data Science Advertising & Operations and will work in partnership directly with Sales and other Analytics peer groups to understand client business issues, to creatively evaluate the Cox Automotive Retail Consumer solutions/programs designed to address those issues, provide analytics and insights at scale to optimize those solutions/programs.
  • Manages the extraction, analysis and interpretation of site traffic, industry and/or survey data using sophisticated data methods, exploration, analysis, and visualization tools.
  • Responsible for creation and maintenance of high-quality business critical datasets and dashboard friendly tables in Snowflake providing data pipelining as a service to enable other analytics professionals in the department
  • Create reliable automated data solutions based on the identification, collection and evaluation of business requirements. Including but not limited to data models, database objects, stored procedures and views.
  • Partners with senior marketing, business and sales stakeholders to help optimize on our core business and campaign KPIs
  • Designs, conducts and leads complex analyses that mine, extract, track, report and analyze performance metrics and other data source systems and summarize findings
  • Leads the development and creation of new KPIs/Reports/Dashboards by leveraging existing and incorporating the use of new datasets and analytics platforms
  • Partners with key stakeholders and cross-functional peers to formulate plan and execute solutions for analytic needs of the client and internal Sales partners
  • Manages the development of unique innovative analyses and methodologies that will help support Cox Automotive client revenue goals
  • Creates queries and basic statistical analysis (SQL, R, Studio etc.) to develop analyses in response to inquiries from internal customers and partners.
  • Leverages the latest state-of-the-art data mining tools and modeling techniques while staying abreast of industry-wide best practices.
  • Collaborates with different departments and defines requirements to improve our reporting suite

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, data science, analytics or marketing analytics and 3 years of experience with data engineering and business analytics, with 2 years of experience in digital marketing analytics or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Ability to translate vague questions into specific data analysis
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to deliver consistently on time and in scope.
  • Experience successfully collaborating on complex analytics projects involving a matrix of cross-functional teams
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-driven atmosphere.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to synthesize complex analyses to senior audiences - internal and external
  • Must be able to understand, analyze data, and synthesize large volumes of data into a coherent narrative or story to answer non-standard/complex questions.
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies: digital trends, social media, and both direct and programmatic media buying.
  • Ability to performance basic statistical analysis (descriptive, variance, regression, probability, etc.)
  • Strong data wrangling and data mining skills using R and/or Python
  • Advanced SQL experience and strong knowledge of data warehousing and data lakes architecture & design (e.g. Snowflake, Hadoop, Hive, Google BigQuery and/or AWS Redshift, etc.)
  • Intermediate level skill and experience with business intelligence & data visualization systems (e.g. MicroStrategy, Microsoft Power BI, Google Data Studio and/or Tableau)
  • Intermediate experience with web / digital analysis and related software preferred (e.g., Adobe Analytics / Omniture and Google Analytics)
  • Intermediate experience in data visualizations, often generated through BI tools like Tableau, Microsoft Power BI or MicroStrategy
