Requisition Number: 214077 Cox Communications is searching for a Lab Test Engineer to manage the CB Engineering network development lab environment. In addition to managing the development lab, you will support the Cox Business Engineering teams move/add/change requests, and installation/maintenance of network testing platforms and IP/MPLS routers/switches. You will utilize a broad knowledge of industry standard network equipment installation processes, network media, and Layers 1 through 3 of the OSI model.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions: - Manage the CB Engineering development lab environments. This includes performing small-to-medium size equipment installations, tracking space and power within the environment, placing medium-to-large equipment installation and/or power installation requests, and managing lab equipment inventory - Maintain and grow network testing platforms for all CB engineering teams. This includes network protocol analyzers, network traffic generators, and network test equipment - Partner with engineers to create and document multiple network testing scenarios - Identify opportunities for improvements to existing lab environment, designs & practices on an ongoing basis - Identify risks to rollout plans and clearly articulate impacts and options to engineering partners with proposed workarounds, changes to schedule, etc. - Typical formal documentation outputs will include lab diagrams, test results and key findings, standardized design guidelines, and implementation guides.

Qualifications:

Minimum: - 2+ years of experience in related field (i.e., Engineering, Technical Operations) or academic equivalent training or projects - 2+ years of experience with Metro Ethernet, IP, and MPLS network design. Recent experience with Nokia (formerly Alcatel-Lucent), Cisco, or Juniper routers and switches - Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds - Requirement to be on-location 5 days a week during business hours. Potential for some work from home dependent on workload - Ability to understand Physical and Data-link layer media properties and implications as they relate to network architecture and operations (i.e., fiber optics, PSTN, HFC, DOCSIS, PON, RF, etc.) - Experience in data communications and networking standards (e.g., MEF, ANSI, IETF, IEEE)

Preferred: - BS/BA degree in related discipline (i.e., Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical degree) - Will consider additional relevant work experience in lieu of degree. Training, or direct professional experience is desired - Telecommunications Industry certifications (i.e., MEF, Cisco, Nokia, Juniper) - Any experience with Nokias (formerly Alcatel-Lucent) Service Router platform (7x50, 7450, 7705, 7210), and 5620 SAM/NSP (EMS) - Knowledge with Ethernet Network Interface Demarcation (NID) devices (Accedian) - Familiarity with Unix/Linux, VMs, modern scripting languages
