- Collaborate with Engineering groups to integrate new network security designs into a production network
- Accountable for analyzing network change requests to determine what type of service is requested, the degree of impact, and where and when implementation should occur
- Analyze network security policy change requests to determine what type of service is requested, if it is compliant, and where implementation should occur.
- Independently analyze existing tools for missing efficiencies or gaps and develop new processes for addressing automation opportunities.
- Provide network performance and capacity guidance by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
- Ensure network security infrastructure and applications are maintained and patched
- Analyze existing automation scripts and tools for any missing efficiencies or gaps.
- Independently support internal and external teams in relation to information security initiatives
- Provide advanced troubleshooting assistance using structured and repeatable methodology
- Identify emerging security solutions and in coordination with Security Engineering, evaluate products
- Appropriately respond to incident escalations and ensure appropriate follow-up based on severity level.
- Recommend use cases that address specific organizational needs and / or regulatory requirements
- Prepare and present dashboards for tiered support organization including but not limited to, incident trending, malicious activity, listed IPs, virus activity and malicious sources
- May manage intermediate level projects with Operations and Engineering to confirm delivery intervals and validate critical dates and milestones to ensure delivery of services stay on target.
- Coordinates with other departments to ensure the network is available and configured to exceed demands.
- 2 or more years of experience working in a Security Engineering Role
- 2 or more years of direct technical network security experience developing security standards, requirements, and documentation.
- 2 or more years of experience security/network troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- 2 or more years experience with firewall and networking technologies from Cisco, Palo Alto and Juniper Networks.
- A sound knowledge of IT security best practice, common attack types, and detection / prevention methods.
- Demonstrable experience of analyzing and interpreting system, security, and application logs to diagnose faults and spot abnormal behaviors
- Practical experiences using UNIX, Linux, and Windows, system administration
- Extensive experience with data center and branch sized firewall and networking technologies from Cisco, Palo Alto and Juniper Networks.
- Strong foundation in dynamic routing protocols (i.e EIGRP, IS-IS, OSPF, BGP)
- Experience in systems monitoring of large networks
- BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly preferred (i.e Engineering, Computer Science or similar technical degree)
- Working knowledge of SDN, Openstack and VMWare
- Scripting and Automation Skills (Python, Ansible).
- One or more security related certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, CFI, CNSE, JNCIS, JNCIE)
