Residential Construction Progress Inspector (Atlanta)

Georgia, Atlanta 00000 Atlanta USA

Vacancy expired!

Local company servicing area lenders is looking for inspectors to assist with weekly progress inspections for residential single family homes across the metro Atlanta area. Areas of town may change from week to week, but work will generally be within 20 miles of I-285 and additional fees are paid for houses further from downtown.

Inspections are performed on Wednesday of every week and candidates must be available all day Wednesday of each week to apply. Candidates will also provide a personal vehicle, gas, cell phone, and camera.

Inspections take less than 5 minutes per house and inspector fills out a web-based inspection form that states basic construction milestones completed at the time of inspection and uploads several photos. Results are uploaded in real time as inspections are completed throughout the day.

The job can be physically demanding and inspections are performed rain or shine. Walking up and down stairs within homes is required for many, if not all homes inspected. No ladder is needed, as the entire inspection is visual from the ground or within the home under construction.

Volume varies each week, but inspectors can anticipate around 30-50 houses to inspect each Wednesday and inspections usually take at least 8-10 hours of the day. Candidate must be dependable and have attention to detail. This job is perfect for a retired person with construction knowledge needing income and wanting to stay active in the field.

Inspectors are paid approximately $15-$20 per house and payment is made on bi-weekly cycles (exact payment terms will be provided and are based on volume and locations of inspections). As such, inspectors can make over $750 per week working only on Wednesdays. Again, inspectors furnish their own gas and car, so there are expenses to consider as well. This is a contract position and no benefits are provided.

Dependability and accuracy are an absolute requirement for the position and heavy consideration is given to those with construction experience.
