Job Description

Hello there!

We're Aladdin WealthTech, a FinTech company with a start-up vibe and some big-time resources. We are part of BlackRock, the largest asset manager on the planet-that is also a $1B annual revenue enterprise software company. We create products that help financial advisors and their clients build financial plans and portfolios to achieve some of life's most important moments: buying a home, sending your kids to college, and retirement. We believe in the power of BlackRock's world-class portfolio analytics AND the importance of the human connection between advisor and investor.

We're looking for an experienced Product Designer to join our growing design team, focused on the world of portfolio models and direct-indexing two of the hottest and potentially most disruptive areas in the world of investing. You will be joining a team with a start-up feel and a global impact. Our experiences provide financial advisors with an integrated suite of applications that range from portfolio construction, analysis, diagnostics, and proposal generation. You will be working with internal stakeholders, business owners, front- and back-end engineering teams, as well as our primary and secondary user groups. We work hard, enjoy each other's company during and after work, and are passionate about the potential of our technology to improve financial outcomes for clients. We like our mash-up of FinTech start-up and market-leading financial services company-and we think that you might like it, too!

Interested in learning more? Reach out to our recruiting team and let's get to know each other!

The Role

As a Product Designer on the Aladdin WealthTech team, you'll be involved with all aspects of the product design process, from brainstorming the next product feature to putting the finishing touches on a design before launching it to users across the globe. You'll work with partners in engineering, product, research, marketing, and business development using a wide variety of user experience, interaction design, and visual design skills to enhance existing product experiences, create new ones as well as expand our design systems.

Role/Responsibilities:
  • Understand business objectives, desired outcomes, and user needs to create innovative product designs in collaboration with designers, product managers, engineers, partners, and clients
  • Design everything from high level flows, to detailed wireframes, to high fidelity mockups, to clickable prototypes to express your vision.
  • Work with UX Research or conduct your own informal testing to validate design directions and inform new thinking for key features.
  • Clearly present your designs and rationale to our partners and other stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:
  • A portfolio that demonstrates a high level of visual polish and highlights your design process and decision-making ability, with at least 2 projects where you directly influenced all stages of the product design process (i.e. ideation, testing, iteration, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar design role, delivering data-heavy applications as part of a multi-functional team including engineering, design and product management
  • Experience creating data visualizations and/or designing products that have innovated in visualizing large datasets.
  • Prototyping skills with tools such as Sketch, InVision, and Figma.
  • Solid understanding of the elements of visual design: Typography, Iconography, Color Theory, Layout and Composition
  • Strong UX design skillset, including identifying problem statements, wireframing, testing, synthesis, iteration, and prototyping.
  • Experience providing visual QA of in-production designs.

Bonus Qualifications:
  • Experience applying and contributing to a design system, and producing assets for development.
  • Prior experience creating products in the financial technology space such as banking, payments, wealth management, investing, etc.

You should be:
  • Curious about your profession and the world of FinTech, to learn and keep up to date.
  • Keen to deliver business value in addition to producing innovative solutions.
  • Proactive and take ownership of your work-you are eager to do more than what is asked.
  • High attention to quality and detail, be it design, testing or code review.
  • A big picture thinker. Be able to take inspiration from non-traditional sources and partners.

Utilizes operating-system level tools and services to diagnose and resolve issues with interaction between user-space applications and underlying operations systems. May perform high-level root cause analysis for service interruptions, and help bring services back online once a problem is resolved.
