The Operations Decision Science team at Delta seeks a Business Analyst to take on developing data-driven solutions aimed at continually improving airline performance and decision making.
We are looking for someone with strong analytical and organizational skills to transform data into insights, distill requirements, and develop processes. They will also be able to define clear, easy-to-digest metrics that resonate with the business. While a deep knowledge in Optimization or Data science/ML is not necessary, previous experience in decision science environment will be a plus. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, business maturity, and feel comfortable in a fast-paced environment.- Use data and analysis to convey solution impact and to support process driven solutions.
- Develop business logic and critical metrics for incorporation into decision support models and tools.
- Construct problem statement including problem description and improvement measures.
- Drill down beyond the problem surface to understand root cause.
- Logically structure recommendations and supporting data to formulate a solid, logical and understandable business case.
- Take ownership and drive project planning and effort estimation within scope.
- Identify risks and mitigation approaches for potential projects
- Proactively share ongoing point of view and perspectives.
- Interface with business unit leaders to develop and maintain internal customer relationships
- Gather requirements for new decision science use cases, leveraging clear direction from user sessions.

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or equivalent combination of education and experience (Master's degree preferred)
- Proven experience in working with relational databases and query authoring (SQL)
- Exposure to business case development (within the context of decision science preferred)
- Proficiency or a good working knowledge in Tableau is necessary
- Working knowledge in at least one statistical/programming language like R, Python, etc. (Python is preferred)
- Exposure to optimization methods and/or data science models is preferred
- Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
- Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.
- Strong organizational and prioritizations skills
- Flexibility to adapt and plan for changing business objectives
- Must be performing satisfactorily in present position
