Cloud Data Platform Engineer Location: Atlanta, GA/Dallas, TX Type: Contract to Hire Job Description The Cloud Data Platform Engineer drives the discovery, design and execution of cloud data and analytics pipelines. The Cloud Data Platform Engineer will also be responsible for developing and delivery of cloud solutions to meet the needs in AI/ML, advanced analytics, open source, enterprise collaboration, microservices, server less, etc. The Cloud Data Platform Engineer will provide leadership, strategic decision-making, and guidance within technical disciplines, responding to disruptive analytic technologies and solving unique and complex problems. Using Cloud Platform technologies, our Data Architects professionals will implement state-of-the-art, scalable, high performance solutions that meet the need of today's corporate and emerging digital applications. S/he researches, architects, and defines Advanced Analytics & Business Intelligence capabilities and strategies for information delivery and data exploration to support business function needs and goals. Role & Responsibilities
Understand the strategic direction set by K-C as it relates to overall enterprise data and analytics strategy Lead the discussions and early analysis of the cloud concepts as it relates to KC's Journey to Cloud methodology so that clear use cases are developed and prioritized as well as transitioning these concepts from ideas to proof-of-concepts with the full support of the appropriate teams Lead cloud solution delivery engagements, along with consultants and client teams for a successful delivery of cloud solutions Lead cloud solution planning, and delivery activities to generate estimates and approaches for execution Conduct full technical discovery, identifying pain points, business and technical requirements, "as is" and "to be" scenarios Assess the full technology stack of services required including PaaS (Platform as-a-service), IaaS (Infrastructure as-a-service), SaaS (software as-a-service), operations, management and automation Compare solution alternatives across both technical and business parameters which support the define cost and service requirements. Create & evolve data & analytics technology roadmap, to align with continuously evolving business needs including overall architecture, capabilities, platforms, tools & governing processes Create, maintain & communicate positioning/go-forward strategies for data & analytic capabilities/tools Share governance responsibility to ensure alignment to enterprise guidelines for security, auditability, data governance, metadata mgmt,. Integrate data catalog capabilities in cloud architecture Benchmark analytic capabilities with Industry analysts and other companies Own strategic technology relationships with technology vendors & external communities/partners Help define/improve best practices, guidelines & integration with other enterprise solutions Stay educated on emerging technology trends, lead education & training for analytics community Basic Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of technical solutions implementation, architecture design, evaluation, and investigation in a cloud environment. Minimum of 3 years of experience in Azure or GCP and a passion for learning new technologies (Kafka, Azure EventHub, Cloud SQL, data fusion, cloud dataprep, cloud storage, airflow/cloud composer) 5 (3 for Junior role) or more years in an Analytic Architecture role designing technology architectures, detailed workflows, best practices and governance guidelines Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in Solution/technical architecture in the cloud Minimum of 4 years of experience in Big Data/analytics/information analysis/database management in the cloud Minimum of 1 year of experience in performing detail assessments of current state data platforms and creating an appropriate transition path to cloud Proven track record of delivering scalable, resource intensive, integrated and operational analytic solution; experience creating point-of-views, technology roadmaps, process diagrams Ability to phase the delivery of analytic solutions such that it can meet immediate needs, while building towards the long-term strategic solution Understanding of holistic enterprise architecture and interplay of analytic components with enterprise foundational components (data architecture/governance, security etc.) Previous cloud Implementation/Delivery experience on Azure and/or GCP Technical Skills Cloud Certified Professional Architect / Cloud Data Engineer Hands-on experience with cloud analytics services (Primarily Azure and GCP) Infrastructure (Server, Storage, and Database) discovery, design, build, and migration experience Experience in any of Messaging platforms (Kafka, Azure EventHub, Iot Hub, etc. ) Experience in Kubernetes and Microservices Experience in Collibra, Alation and Babylon Experience with private and public cloud architectures, pros/cons, and migration considerations Experience in and understanding of data and information management, especially in Big Data trends Experience integrating 3rd party KMS, HSM with cloud data services for building secure data solutions Know your way around Map Reduce, Hadoop, Spark, Flume, Hive, Impala, SparkSQL, Technical/Team Leadership Experience Personnel Development Experience (hiring, resource planning, performance feedback, etc.) Adapts existing methods and procedures to create possible alternative solutions to moderately complex problems Professional Skill Requirements - Strong leadership and management skills
