Data Analyst Job Description
Position Overview:Apartments.com is the leading online apartment listing website, connecting renters to more than 1mm rentals across the country. Powered by CoStar, the Apartments.com network of home rental sites includes Apartments.com, ApartmentFinder.com, Apartamentos.com, ForRent.com, ApartmentHomeLiving.com, and WestsideRentals.com. These unique rental sites offer advertisers expansive exposure for their available rental listings of all kinds.The Apartments.com analytics and reporting team is looking for a self-starter with 1-5 years of hands-on data analytics or reporting experience. In this role, analysts will be expected learn essential business functions, develop key metrics, and deliver analyses and reporting that contribute to business decisions across the organization. Candidates will be required to work cross-functionally with management, analysts, developers, and product teams to meet objectives and deliver actionable insights to the business.Within the role, analysts will have the opportunity to explore all areas of the data analysis discipline including database design & architecture, query creation & optimization, ETL creation & maintenance, on-demand report creation, and analytic modeling.Essential Team Functions:- Partner across departments to identify key information gaps and plans to provide or obtain that information
- Utilize multiple data sources (primarily MS/T-SQL) build datasets and perform ad hoc analyses that drive actionable insights for the business
- Design and build reports, create models and analyses to identify trends and improve existing business processes
- Develop metrics and create dashboards to understand trends and track progress against key metrics
- 1-5 years of data analytics experience with experience, including:
- SQL experience including query writing, dataset creation
- Analytical programming experience
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to analyze data, interpret information and trends in large amounts of data to develop actionable recommendations
- Ability to work on multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously and quickly adapt as business needs and objectives change
- Ability to work both as an individual and within a team to resolve issues, create new approaches to analyzing data, and drive decisions and consensus within the business
- BA/BS degree required.
- Intermediate SQL knowledge and experience
- Familiarity with other scripting languages (R, Python, JavaScript, etc.)
- Intermediate experience in data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau)
