ERP Project Manager for the State of Georgia

Location: Atlanta, GA

  • On-site required from Day 1
  • In this role, the candidate should have a successful record of accomplishment leading ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) implementations.
  • The candidate must be detailed-oriented, an effective communicator, efficient collaborator with formidable cross-functional business process knowledge (HR, Finance, Operations, IT), and ability to proficiently communicate with C-Level executives.
  • The candidate will be responsible for leading, planning, and executing project activities related to the implementation, including scoping, structuring, and coordination across cross-division stakeholders.
  • The candidate is responsible for the success of multiple projects within an approved timeline and budget, creation and dissemination of status reports, managing and escalating issues and risks, and working with 3rd party vendors as required.
Responsibilities
  • Run a complex project/programs from design and development to production.
  • Assisting in the translation of that vision into business requirements
  • Synthesizing the business and technical landscape into a sound project strategy and execution plan
  • Managing multiple key projects with significant scope and complexity simultaneously
  • Extremely strong verbal and written communication skills, partnered with an ability to collaborate and build effective interpersonal relationships
  • Expert knowledge and experience managing essential risk mitigation activities including identification, tracking, follow-up, escalation, and contingency planning on risks, issues. Must understand interdependencies and mitigate issues and risks across projects within the IT program.
  • Critical thinking skills that result in innovative problem solving and decision making.
  • Advanced in use of IT tools to effectively manage IT Program schedules and sub-projects interdependent milestones. Ability to analyze and strategically leverage Project data to ensure key risks and issues are identified and resolved.
  • Will coordinate with technical teams in defining application requirements and resolving project issues. Responds to technical problems, explains new technologies, and presents deliverables. Learns to build productive networks with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participates in project design, contributing technical insights and ideas. Helps formulate project scope and objectives. Demonstrates a solid understanding of the fundamentals of requirement specification, design, coding, and testing of information systems.
  • Writes basic documentation of a new or proposed system. Contributes to project plans, RFP's and RFI's. Shares knowledge effectively within the work team.
  • Works directly with users in defining new application requirements and resolving project issues, responding to user problems to explain new technologies and present deliverables.
  • Tests, implements, documents and maintains system components based on specifications
  • Creating a communications process to ensure stakeholders are aware of status, risks, and opportunities
  • Synchronizing and managing cross-project interdependencies
  • Driving execution of project and program deliverables
  • Formulating mitigation strategies and recommending solutions
  • Oversee QA activities to ensure project deliverables meet / exceed established standards
  • Providing risk management and issue/problem resolution as required
  • Interacting with senior leaders across a highly matrixed environment in both IT and business communities and cultivating trust with all program stakeholders
  • Preparing and delivering presentations regarding program status to key stakeholders
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or MIS preferred
  • 5+ years of IT project management experience
  • PMP Certification
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with MS Project, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Proven experience "translating" technical concepts into business terms
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong and trusted relationships with business and IT leaders
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal guidance
  • Comfort operating in a very fast paced environment with aggressive timetables
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • General knowledge of the core K-12 or business functions (Finance, HR and Operations)
  • General knowledge of information technologies (those currently used within the system and new technologies)
