The candidate should have reasonable technical understanding and experience in building robust, performant, standards-based applications and processes, preferably within a distributed context.

The successful candidate will be influential on the design of next-generation, science-focused applications at Delta.

Primary Functions:
  • Develop and implement software products from prototype to near-production levels

  • Partner with IT and other groups, as necessary, to support deployment and downstream productionization and deployment of apps
  • Provide technical advice to Delta's business units
  • Enthusiastically support other developers and ODS members on coding and architecture
  • Support product managers in educating business units on our capabilities

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent

  • Experience with relational databases and ORM
  • Capable and reasonably experienced with software architecture, implementing best practice patterns using modern languages and frameworks, preferably Python
  • Total comfort with Git and Git-based repositories
  • Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and prioritizations skills
  • Must be able to interact and collaborate at all levels within Delta and across groups.
  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

  • Deployment process understanding through Dev, PreProd, and Prod environments is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Data Science/Machine Learning concepts preferred
