DescriptionThe Department of Biochemistry and Neurology within the Emory University School of Medicine has a postdoctoral position available to utilize mass spectrometry-based discovery and targeted proteomic applications to identify new biomarkers in in Alzheimer’s’ disease (AD) postmortem brain tissue, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma. The individual hired for this position will work closely with the NIH Accelerating Medicine Partnership for Alzheimer's Disease Research and Drug Development Consortium ().Preferable candidates will have aPhD in biochemistry, chemistry or related discipline. Experience with protein/peptide separation and analysis by liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry will also be considered as a plus. Applicants with expertise in quantitative proteomics by label-free, or labeling techniques (e.g., iTRAQ, TMT, SILAC, etc.) and/or targeted MS approaches (SRM and PRM) are preferred. Experience with the quantification of post-translational modifications (PTMs) by MS-based proteomics is also desirable. Finally, the individual must also be able to work with interdisciplinary teams of researchers, and communicate and write effectively as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications.Additional DetailsPreferred QualificationsPhD in biochemistry, chemistry with experience utilizing targeted or discovery proteomic approaches employing mass spectrometry.
