Job Description

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of our Profile Application Development team (in Payment Products Development organization) to help design, develop, enhance, maintenance and support business critical applications that support VISA's daily operations. Profile applications are responsible in the storage, upkeep and dissemination of client information for authorization, clearing, settlement and data mining. A successful candidate will work as an individual contributor who will be able to deliver quality work product in collaboration with more senior members of the team.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of Profile Applications Development team to help design, enhance and build our Products. You will work with colleagues, who will support and challenge you daily. You would be working as a Mainframe Developer using DB2, COBOL, JCL. You will also play part of multiple teams tasked with multiple projects ranging from building full stack development of Mainframe batch jobs, real-time transactional services, REST services API, VM or Container based services to highly functional, secure, scalable, and resilient real time and batching systems.
  • Collaborate with business units and technical staff to understand business requirements for use in designing appropriate solutions
  • Contribute to formulating options and providing recommendations on scope and scale of effort required to implement final requirements
  • Analyze, document, design, code, unit test and implement solutions for system enhancements, and production fixes
  • Build and maintain effective relationships across functional areas in order to provide superior product support.
  • Provide on-call pager support during US business hrs.
  • Ensure on-schedule delivery of a high-quality product that meets business and technical requirements.
  • Participate in design and code review sessions as appropriate.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate needs to have (Basic Qualifications): 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD Strong in Mainframe, DB2, COBOL, JCL, ISPS. Support and/or development role experience using ESP, CA7 or another scheduling software. You have experience architecting solutions with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery in mind. While you’ll have the skill to see and understand the big picture, you’re able to stay focused on the task at hand to achieve immediate goals. You have the passion to understanding people and to always striving to improve our products and services. Basic understanding of Web UI and backend framework in Open system platform. Exposure to Core Java, JEE technologies, REST and UI (Angular JS, EXT JS) technologies is a plus.
