The Director of Software Engineering is a leadership role responsible for the design, delivery, and operational support of our mission-critical transportation management systems. The Director will partner with the VP of Software Engineering, product owners, and development leads to develop new products, processes, standards, and plans in support of the NTG's business strategies.

General Responsibilities:
  • Optimize the development and delivery of features through modern DevOps practices with the goal of delivering business value to end users several times a day.
  • Strategic and innovative technical leadership with a focus on advancing highly scalable event-driven architectures.
  • Interact with team members to ensure successful delivery of each sprint iteration and product release.
  • Research, architect, develop roadmaps and implement solutions to support business initiatives across Azure cloud services, data, and infrastructure.
  • Lead the evaluation of new technologies, applications, and vendors to determine appropriateness, value, and fit.
  • Manage offshore, nearshore, and other staff augmentation teams to provide swing capacity as needed.
  • Identify and implement technology trends that will support the future success of the business.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of software development experience.
  • 5+ years of management experience.
  • Four-year degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong familiarity with modern .Net technology stacks.
  • Self-managing, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience building applications in the cloud (GCP, Azure, AWS).
  • Robust understanding of data structures and data modeling
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
