Juvenile Correctional Captain -Milledgeville ITU/YDCDescriptionJOB SUMMARY:Plans and assists with custody and security of youth in DJJ custody. Maydevelop and implement security policies and procedures. Directs subordinatesupervisors and staff.DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:
May develop and implement security and controlof contraband policies and procedures. Oversees the transfer of youth from onefacility to another.
Supervises assigned correctional staff andensures conformity with department and facility security policies andprocedures and implements emergency plans and procedures.
Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluatesthe performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges correctionsemployees.
Coordinates youth activities and headcountprocedures.
Assures that law and order are maintained andthat the laws, policies, rules and regulations are enforced to prevent crimesand to protect lives and property.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED AND P.O.S.T.certification AND Two years of experience at a level equivalent to a supervisorylaw enforcement position OR One year of experience required at the lower levelCorrectional Lieutenant (PSP065) or position equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Current and valid certification as a JuvenileCorrectional Officer by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST)Council.
Two or more years of experience working in aJuvenile Detention Center.
Experience managing subordinate staff.
