Job Description

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision receives, records and stores all stock. Cuts raw material and trims printed stock to customer specifications on a power guillotine cutter and/or electric sheeter. Pulls and delivers materials to various departments. Receives and documents all incoming shipments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Receive and properly store all stock and supplies and confirms that packing list conforms to Purchase Order and associated documents for correct items and quantity.

  • Inspects all packages for damage and completes appropriate documentation.

  • Enters receiving information in ERP system.

  • Attach expiration labels or other identification and documentation to raw and finished product.

  • Advises purchasing agent of any discrepancies and documents as needed.

  • Dates and tags all raw stock before storing.

  • Read and understand production blueprint, job ticket, and scheduling information.

  • Checks material to be trimmed against work order instructions for accuracy.

  • Determines whether trimming is necessary prior to final cutting.

  • Performs cutting operations to close tolerances, sets back stop and clamp pressure.

  • Partners with maintenance for cutter square and blade changes.

  • Blocks, stacks, feeds, cuts, retrieves, and re-stacks sheets.

  • Delivers cut stock to printing and finishing departments.

  • Cycle counts all racks as needed where material is stored.

  • Regularly compare prepared materials to production schedule to minimize duplicates and keep inventory accurate. Communicate any inventory corrections discovered during these checks.

  • Routinely check prep tickets, expiration labels and other documentation to ensure no delays to production and accurate inventory.

  • Run schedules as requested to ensure material preparation is timely.

  • Maintains production records as required.

  • Inspects machine guards for safety compliance.

  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.

  • Follows all department work instructions.

  • Ensures compliance with company safety rules and policies.

  • Operate a forklift.

OTHER (NON-ESSENTIAL) FUNCTIONS:

Includes functions, which are normally performed by persons holding this title. However, these functions may be assigned to other employees as part of a “Reasonable Accommodation” under the ADA.

  • Trains in various production areas to assist as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

Required and responsible for employee safety, attending safety training, complying with all company safety and work policies and reporting all accidents/injuries immediately to their Manager and HR Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

The minimum education required for this position is a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to one-on-one and small group situations and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

This position requires the ability to drive and operate a fork lift, and may require a driver’s license.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Computer skills to include experience working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, any Web Browser, ERP systems, and Access system.

The employee is required to apply a “buddy system” for products weighing more than 50 lbs.
