Design EngineerThis position includes, but is not limited to the following:Design 3D models of parts & assembliesDESCRIPTION of DUTIES Reading and interpreting plans/blueprints to create 3-D models of customer layouts for shop, detail and fabrication drawings Utilize technical knowledge and experience to plan and modify product configurations with the customer's needs noting any special items (i.e. stainless, galvanized, special details). Develop and/or help develop new products based on customer requirements and specifications. Communicate with appropriate departments to address internal design problems, resolve fabrication and/or potential field installation issues. Create manufacturing documentation. Create file/field installation documents to show the customer how the products are assembled. Add commonly used parts to a library for fast and easy future use Create Bill of Materials, Design 3D models of parts & assemblies, create templates to be used on jobs for production & R&D Testing. Other duties as assignedDuties include supporting and sustaining the Habersham Metal Products operational excellence initiatives as follows: Comply with safety policies to promote a safe working environment Work in a team environment Strive to create a quality product Strive to meet production deadlines Be conscious of waste and strive to control and reduce operational costs. Share ideas of ways to improve processes so we can be a better CompanyMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:1.High school diploma or GED required. Vocational training/ education in industrial technology or industrial engineering, or related field preferred.2.Minimum of three (3) years previous experience and/or training in computer-aided design (CAD) software that includes fabrication and assembly.3.Experience with Inventor software required.4.Experience reading and interpreting plans and blueprints5.Must possess strong problem solving skills, capable of coming up with creative approaches for generating new ideas and improving existing processes or products in the unit.6.Must have or acquire a visual understanding of the finished product and part characteristics to better identify potential internal problems and opportunities for improvement.7.Ability to read and interpret company work instructions, schedules, prints and specifications.8.Willingness to cross-train as requested.ADDITIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to develop reports and presentations Computer skills in a networked environment with Microsoft office tools proficiency. Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively. Ability and willingness to work long hours as workload demands Excellent work ethic and attendance record Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality. Self-motivatedPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Mechanical Engineering Degree or related post-secondary education and/or training. High level of experience with Inventor. Experience designing Sheet Metal products.
