Job Description
A-TEK Inc is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor to support our vital mission to protect America's Public Health! This is a Second Shift OpportunityResponsibilities Handle, receive, and process patient specimens;
Adhere to and follow laboratory established procedures for processing, analyzing and reporting patient samples; Familiarity with CLIA guidelines; Decontaminate workspaces, including biological safety cabinets and other items associated with processing and analysis activities;
Prepare reagents;
Perform nucleic acid extraction work;
Use real-time PCR techniques to identify pathogens; Analyze and interpret results; Perform data entry utilizing computerized or computer-linked systems;
Adhere to QA/QC requirements in accordance with the laboratory quality management systems, as specified by state and federal licensure laws; Maintain documentation of records demonstrating compliance with applicable training/retraining, competencies, and document reviews; Maintain equipment and instruments and the appropriate documentation Properly dispose of biohazardous waste; and restock and maintain inventory of necessary supplies.
In addition to the duties above the Clinical Laboratory Supervisor will Supervise day-to-day activities in the section;
Assign work, monitor activities and evaluate performance;
Resolve escalated issues;
Administer employment actions, provide coaching and guidance to staff and promote staff training and development;
Lead work activities of the section, plan and organize work, provide for adequate staffing and resources;
Maintain work on schedule to sustain ongoing customer satisfaction and meet turnaround times;
Communicate with other related sections to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed;
Prepare reports, presentations and other information summarizing work activities; and
Prepare various analyses as needed to highlight issues and resolve questions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Medical Technology, Microbiology or a related science area from an accredited college or university
ANDcurrent certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP or equivalent).Experience
Three years of experience with real-time PCR in a high-complexity laboratory; PhD or Master’s requires one year of experience with real-time PCR in a high complexity laboratory
One year of experience as a team leader
BSL3 experience is desirable
