As an accredited public health department, we're seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Communicable Disease Specialist 2 in District 3-5, Dekalb, GA. Won't you join us?Job Responsibilities:The Communicable Disease Specialist (WL) will be assigned to DeKalb District 3-5 and will perform duties under general supervision, gathers, analyzes and monitors data regarding communicable diseases within a health district. Ensures implementation of timely disease intervention strategies to decrease the prevalence of such diseases. Performs reporting and surveillance activities as well as conduct data collection and analysis. Prepares documentation of all communicable disease case investigations occurring with the district.Responsibilities:

Identifies contacts and recruiting high-risk patients for participation in communicable disease education and prevention programs.

Obtains medical and epidemiological histories and verifying patient eligibility. Conducts home visits to educate and assess patients' progress.

Applies tuberculosis skin tests and collects sputum samples. Collects, organizes, prepares and reports verified cases of tuberculosis to the State Tuberculosis Control Unit.

Assists in the coordination of tuberculin screenings for the Outbreak Response Unit. Conducts epidemiological investigations of disease contacts, assesses risk factors, refers to clinic for follow-up and provides appropriate services to patients dually infected with tuberculosis and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)

Maintains patient files, vouchers, and other documents and reports in accordance with federal and state regulations.

Provides health education to community organizations, schools, and groups about risky lifestyles and contracting communicable diseases. Assists patients in obtaining referrals to social/community services. Drives mobile health unit as required. Responds to telephone inquiries.

Assists in identifying and obtaining treatment for incarcerated patients with contagious diseases.

Provide training in disease investigation as required.
