PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING INSTRUCTOR II - OFFICE OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENTDescriptionJOB SUMMARY:Under limited supervision, coordinates and serves as an instructor for public safety training in basic, advanced and specialized topics including the training and re-training of existing cadre of instructors. Participates in needs assessments, reach, design and evaluation of statewide public safety training program. Demonstrates teamwork and high degree of customer service.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directs the identification of performance and training needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of appropriate interventions.

Assures quality of course development and delivery through assignment of qualified instructor, monitoring and reviewing lesson plans, and class presentations.

Monitors, evaluates and records training activities and program effectiveness.

Facilitates training using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as role-playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos and lectures.

Schedules classes and develops training calendar for community and other special leadership programs based on availability of classrooms, equipment, and instructors.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Current certification as an instructor by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Council.

One of more years of experience in applying training methods in needs assessment and training program development for law enforcement or criminal justice agency.

At least one year of management and leadership experience in delivering management and leadership programs as a P.O.S.T. certified instructor.

Current certification in specialized Firearms Instructor by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Council or be willing to become certified within a year of employment.
