Responsibilities

The DB2 z/OS Product Support Team is looking for a new team member! Join this collaborative team and enjoy servicing dozens of application areas throughout the Enterprise. Among the many vital responsibilities of ensuring the ongoing, successful operation of the key systems that drive State Farm's business, as a DB2 for z/OS Analyst, you can expect your role to include the following:
  • Ensure DB2 remains up and running for all of State Farm's customers by managing the installation, maintenance and support of DB2 and related tools on the z/OS platform.
  • Troubleshoot issues reported by users or pro-actively detected.
  • Monitor DB2 for stability and recommend/implement actions to address issues.
  • Work with vendors such as IBM and BMC on deploying fixes and new functionality
  • Evaluate new DB2 development and function to determine the impact to infrastructure and applications.
  • Build, support and deploy tools, products and automation
  • Participate in periodic Disaster Recovery exercises; be available on an occasional, rotating basis to support the 24x7 availability of DB2 systems.

Qualifications

Competitive candidates will bring the following:
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience maintaining DB2 infrastructure
  • Strong problem solving skills to address system issues and DB2 specific errors
  • Ability to code in REXX for new software deployment, disaster recovery and internal tools
  • Strong ISPF skills
  • Proficiency in JCL
  • Strong communication skills and a customer service mindset
  • Experience with DB2 system backup and recovery
