Responsibilities

The State Farm Infrastructure as a Service Automation team has an opening for an experienced Software Developer - Infrastructure. The team develops & supports software and tools that enable automation implementation. The team identifies opportunities for automation within the infrastructure function, and supports the ability for teams to create automation for their products. If you enjoy engaging in complex work and collaborating with partners across multiple infrastructure teams, this may be the opportunity for you!

• Designs, develops, and tests new and/or modifies existing applications

• Provides technical solutions that improve time to market

• Support State Farm infrastructure by analyzing technical and business requirements, to design and develop quality technical solutions

• Provides support to others using strong technical and team approach

Qualifications

State Farm is a large enterprise IT organization, consisting of a large infrastructure footprint within numerous data centers, so a strong understanding of infrastructure is required. Competitive candidates will demonstrate expertise in the following:

Required skills:

Highly proficient & experienced in scripting and OO languages (Javascript, Python, Java, etc.)
Minimum five (5) years of work experience as a developer
Experience in performing thorough unit testing and code reviews
Proficient in software development best practices
Working knowledge of infrastructure technologies, architecture and implementation protocols
Practical experience using the Agile methodology
Experience in creating technical documentation
Good communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred skills:

Knowledge of frameworks including Django and Vue.js
Experience working in large IT environments
Knowledge of data center operations and technologies
Demonstrates technical expertise, leadership, initiative, teamwork, and customer focus
Ability to foster innovation, encourage diversity of thought, and incorporate new ideas
Ability to adapt and work well in a fast paced team environment
Bachelor's degree in STEM field or equivalent work experience

Incumbency period: Applicants are subject to a 12 month incumbency period commencing on the effective date of hire.
