Click here to learn more.ResponsibilitiesThese positions are located in the Finance Division (FIN), Chief Financial Officer Directorate (CFO), Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC), Glynco, Georgia. The purpose of these positions is to provide accounting technical functions and support to FLETC divisions and serviced Department of Homeland Security (DHS) components. Serving as an Accounting Technician atFLETC makes you a valuable member of the FLETC team and mission. Typical assignments include: Receiving, reviewing, and classifying a variety of standardized and recurring accounting documents/ transactions in support of purchasing, accounts payable/receivables, credit cards, and disbursement.Verifying, maintaining, and reconciling account balances using a variety of established accounting procedures.Providing customer service to vendors, contractors, internal and external customers.Conducting research and analyzing accounting data to make determinations and recommendations to standardize accounting practices and eliminating inconsistencies among customers.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsThe qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement.You qualify for the GS-05 grade level if you possess:At least 4 years of education above the high school level; (transcripts must be provided)-OR-At least 1-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level performing such duties as utilizing accounting procedures, techniques and terminology; entering and retrieving data in an automated accounting and/or billing system; and reconciling, adjusting, balancing, and maintaining accounting transactions.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps and AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel Management must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.You will need to sign aRecent Graduates Program ParticipationAgreement for thisappointment.Your supervisor will place you on an Individual Development Plan (IDP) within 45 days of your appointment. Normal safety precautions are required.Re-employed annuitants’ annual salaries will be reduced by the amount of their retirement annuity and by further cost of living increases.
