The AdvanTEC team creates rapid prototypes of solutions that solve customer problems and leverage the broad portfolio of Carrier’s products and expertise.Job ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Director, AdvanTEC, and this position will be responsible to develop prototype software in support of creating new and advanced intelligent building solutions. To support the rapid development of new solutions, the candidate will need to both possess and maintain working knowledge of a broad range of contemporary software technologies, as well as software development tools and techniques including agile.This position will require working with engineering teams across the global organization to create solutions for a diverse portfolio of new customer application projects utilizing the full spectrum of available Carrier products.Specific responsibilities for this position include:
Identify technical solutions that can be rapidly developed and deployed in a robust manner
Assess cross-cutting aspects of the solution such as security, configuration, and communication/connectivity
Determine a solution’s technical feasibility, identify and mitigate technical risk
Write well designed testable and efficient code
Develop prototype software applications used to integrate software systems through API’s
Identify and evaluate commercial-off-the-shelf software solutions that can be combined with internally developed systems to satisfy customer needs, budget, and schedule
Define software requirements and test plans
Execute full lifecycle of software development
Support solution ideation sessions with customers
Working knowledge of IT systems and deployment of IoT solutions is a plus
EducationBS degree is required, MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.Experience/Qualifications
Proven experience in software engineering
Experience with application development using one or more high level programming languages (eg. C/C, JAVA).
Hands on experience with designing interactive applications
Experience with RESTful web service implementations, corresponding data format (HTML, XML, CSS, JSON), network technologies (UDP, TCP/IP), and scripting languages (PHP and JavaScript)
Familiar with mobile platforms (iOS, Android)
Hands-on experience with public cloud solutions such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or the Google Cloud Platform.
Basic knowledge with different build systems (Make, CMake, Maven, Gradle, etc.)
Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal across a wide audience.
Experience working with globally distributed development teams, and work with and/or manage work being performed by 3rd party contract developers is a plus.
