SummaryYou will serve as a SHEET METAL MECHANIC LEADER in the Sheet Metal Shop (313/S17A), Hull Division (TRF-310), Repair Department (TRF-300) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.ResponsibilitiesYou will instruct personnel in performing work which is typical of the Sheet Metal trade such as the fabrication, assembly and installation of sheet metal related items.You will conduct training sessions and instructs personnel in organized training programs and subject matter which cover all phases of the sheet metal occupation designed to update, improve, or upgrade the knowledge and skills of the students.You will research, develop, and administer sheet metal trade training.You will develop new training course lesson plans as needed.You will provide qualification and re-qualification training to all shop personnel.You will assign daily work to other workers and instruct them on work requirements, methods and procedures and define the standards of quality of work performed.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsAlthough a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE while performing duties such as: Interpreting work instructions and job orders to plan work and relay procedures, policies, and safe preparation and installation of all sheet metal fabrication; demonstrating proper work methods to less experienced Sheet Metal personnel; providing instructions on the use of shop tools such as mock-ups in shop work areas of facilities, and on deck plates; reviewing work performed for the appropriate level of safety, quality, and productivity. Additional vacancies may be filled by this announcement. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Work in shops, classrooms, aboard ships and submarines may require periods of standing, vertical climbing, stooping and moving in and out of areas of close confinement. Work in shops, classrooms, aboard ships and submarines may lead to exposure to fumes, electrical shock, flying objects, excessive noise, and other adverse environment conditions. May be required to work on nuclear systems and participate in RADCON activities as deemed necessary to meet management needs. May be assigned to any shift, shift hours, and basic workweek and frequent overtime. This position may require travel worldwide at which time additional medical screening may be required. Light to moderate physical exertion will be required in lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally lifting objects up 110 pounds with assistance. Required to take physical examinations in accordance with mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Requirements.
