JOB OPENING Troup County Government (Revised Salary) Position: Communications Officer I Department: E-911 Salary: $14.74/Hr This position is responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency calls and for dispatching appropriate personnel. Qualifications/Knowledge:High school diploma or GED, current valid driver's licenseMust possess or have the ability to readily obtain GCIC/NCIC certificationKnowledge of emergency communication principles and practicesKnowledge of GCIC/NCIC policies and proceduresKnowledge of emergency dispatch proceduresKnowledge of radio and telecommunications equipmentKnowledge of CAD system functions and maintenanceSkill in the use of computers and job-related software programsSkill in making decisions in high pressure and emergency situationsSkill in public relationsSkill in interpersonal relationsSkill in oral and written communications Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Receives and screens incoming calls from the public and other user agencies; categorizes and prioritizes calls including 911 callsDetermines and dispatches the appropriate emergency personnel to incident locations; provides emergency medical instructionsto callers prior to the arrival of responders as neededReceives, monitors and dispatches radio traffic for specific fire, EMS and law enforcement agenciesInquires, retrieves and monitors data from GCIC/NCIC databases; ensures compliance with rules and regulationsMaintains contact with emergency personnel in the fieldResponds to driver's license and vehicle information requestsMonitors channels for other agenciesMonitors weather conditions and provides information as necessary; dispatches severe weather alerts as appropriateOperates Code Red messaging systemParticipates in training exercisesDispatches wrecker services to accident scenesPerforms all other related duties as assignedEmployment Applications will be accepted Until Filled on Troup County's website @ www.troupcountyga.org.
