ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Familiarization and understanding of the applicable regulations, inspection methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used to determine the airworthiness of a component on which maintenance, preventive maintenance or alterations is performed.
  • Ensure that the processing and inspection of components are within the applicable regulatory authority.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS:

  • Know proper procedures for performing non-destructive testing (NDT) by methods such as but not limited to radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, eddy current, magnetic particle, and fluorescent penetrant testing.
  • Know proper use, basic maintenance, and calibration of X-ray equipment such as but not limited to manual overhead door, thermo luminescent dosimeter badge (TLD or film badge), dosimeter pencil, survey meter, chemical mixer, developer, fixer, film processor, test paper, film viewer, densitometer, X-ray tube and control panel
  • Know proper use, basic maintenance, and calibration of fluorescent penetrant equipment such as but not limited to PSM-5 panels, dwell tank, dryer, inspection booth, spray gun and water hose.
  • Know how to perform basic NDT tests according to procedures and specific criteria based upon current NAS 410.
  • Know how to perform basic NDT evaluations based upon specific criteria and current NAS 410 certification.
  • Successfully complete CCS NDT certifications according to NAS 410.
  • Maintain current NAS-410 certifications.
  • Assist in developing NDT procedures for new products and improve procedures for current products.
  • Demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude.
  • Continually look for ways to increase efficiency and productivity, while maintaining the required level of quality.
  • Ensure the proper utilization of the Chrome System.
  • Provide for continuity of inspection responsibility, assuring completion of required inspection when personnel shift or assignment changes occur.
  • Assist engineering in the introduction of new repairs and/or techniques to facilitate repairs and/or repairs to components.
  • In conjunction with engineering and production, continually review the process routings to optimize the workflow through the maintenance process.

Qualifications

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • One (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Read, speak, write, and effectively communicate in English.
  • Read and interpret various types of precision measurement equipment.
  • Read and interpret documents such as OEM maintenance manuals, customer specifications and regulatory authorities.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Operate industrial truck or electric hoist.
  • Perform frequent lifting, pulling, and pushing.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Software
  • Ability to effectively communicate with peers, subordinates, supervisors and management personnel, customers and 2nd and 3rd party auditors.
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Maintain effectiveness in stressful situations

CERTIFICATES REQUIRED:

  • Pass an annual Eye Examination specifically for NDT Inspectors.
  • NDT Certification per NAS410 and CCS Quality requirements
