Job Title: Deep Canvasser
Location: Middle GA (Macon/Fort Valley)
Compensation: $15 per hour
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Position: Part-Time (up to 20 hrs/week), temporary (ASAP- November 4, 2020)
Care in Action is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting for dignity and fairness for the millions of domestic workers in the United States, most of whom are immigrants and women of color.
Care in Action is hiring motivated individuals for a paid canvass program in the Macon and Fort Valley region for the 2020 election cycle. Canvassers will be responsible for talking with voters ahead of the upcoming election. We will deepen our knowledge of the most pressing issues for Georgians and will encourage folks to vote in this crucial election. We are looking to fill positions immediately!
Deep canvassing is about having longer and more in-depth conversations about issues that voters care about. This position is for people who are interested in having more invested conversations and contact at the door. This is a temporary position. Canvassers will work under the immediate supervision of the Georgia State Director and Care in Action staff. Those with previous canvassing experience are encouraged to apply!
Duties & Responsibilities:
Doorknock for several hours a day, walking required
Note: Canvassing will take place Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, and or Sundays from 4:00-8:00 pm. Canvassers will coordinate with their supervisor which shifts they will work in order to coordinate with other canvassers and to fit within their own schedule
Talk to voters about their interests and concerns
Commit to having thorough daily debriefs
Tracking and entering canvassing data information using the VAN application (must have access to a smartphone in order to download and use the app)
Qualifications and experience:
Have access to an insured, registered vehicle for job duration
Have access to a smartphone for job duration
Works well independently towards a team goal
Strong interpersonal skills and outgoing personality
Be goal-oriented, punctual, organized and with a positive attitude
Believe in the mission and vision of the Care in Action
Proficiency in a language other than English is a plus
