We continue to provide innovative care models, focused on improving quality and access to healthcare.ResponsibilitiesThe Executive Director of Nursing (EDON) - will be over a broad spectrum of Critical Care within Neuro, Trauma,Cardiac, and Medical units . The Executive Director is a registered professional nurse who provides leadership andmanagement of a specific service line through the application of advanced competencies incommunication; job knowledge, professionalism and business skills. This executive is a member of thechief nursing officer’s administrative team and serves as her designee for assigned responsibilities He/sheeffectively partners with hospital leadership,, medical staff and other departments to create a center ofexcellence for their specialty service and to meet the hospital’s mission, vision and goals. This leaderadministers five (5) to twenty (20) cost centers with a range of approximately 400 – 600 FTEs in a largecomplex case setting that is 600 to 700 beds. This EDON also handles a budget with a range from100 to 300 million dollars.The Executive Director of Nursing provides direct leadership for a group of nurse managers/directors ordepartments and who comprise their specialty service line. He/she is a standard bearer and holds leadersand staff accountable for the delivery of safe, quality care and services through effective communication,fiscal accountability, and employment of transformational leadership., instilling an accountability-basedpractice setting. The executive director of nursing serves as sponsor for performance improvement;inspires others to seek opportunities to grow and improve their performance and successful applies leanand evidenced based practice to ensure all targets pillar outcomes are achieved. This executive employsall safety first interventions and as the chief safety officer creates a culture of safety for his/her service linethrough the development/use of these skills by other leaders, physicians and staff. He/she effectively usesdata and technology to make decisions and proactively mitigates unnecessary risks for his/her area ofresponsibility providing instruction and mentoring for assigned leaders to be able to do the same. Thisexecutive ensures that nurse managers and staff create a desirable, safe work environment that enablesthe organization to meet or exceed all licensure, regulatory and accreditation standards. He/She modelsthe way by fostering exemplary skills in attaining effective teamwork and collaboration with physicians,staff, patients and other departments.It is expected that all Nurse Leaders are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing asoutlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Codeof Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient servicesteam, it is expected the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures whilesupporting service excellence goals.QualificationsRequired Minimum Education : Must hold either a Master’s Degree in Nursing or Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from accredited nursing schools with a Master’s Degree in related field.Required Minimum Licensure/Certification : Registered Nurse, actively licensed in the State of Georgia or hold a privilege to practice in the State of Georgia under the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). National certification in nursing administration or clinical specialty preferred. Must have a current BLS card from the American Heart Association on the first day of employment in position.Required Minimum Experience : Minimum of 10-12 total years of experience as a Registered Nurse; includes 5-7 years of progressive operational leadership in a manager or director level role.Required Minimum Skills :Should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and relationship building; a knowledge of the health care environment; leadership that includes such skills as successfully implementing and managing a change process – ability to use systems thinking- and inspire, coach others to be successful; model the way for professional practice; professionalism and teamwork/collaboration for self/department/medical staff; and possess necessary business skills to manage human and material resources. Must be a continuous learner who understands health care financing; strategy and operations for running a business unit(s); and effectively employ data and technology to support work processes and make decisions. Supports shared governance or shared decision making; manage the design and delivery of care that in based on evidence and focused on quality and safety.
